Creative Café – Clay Earrings with Sheri Pott, @thelittlethingsbringjoy (Instagram)

Friday, April 17 from 9 – Noon or Saturday, April 18 from 9 – Noon
(A third class will open Saturday, April 18 from 1 – 4 PM if these classes fill.)

Learn beginner-friendly techniques to make clay earrings. Participants will be able to create two pairs of handmade clay earrings from start to finish! You will choose from a variety of shapes and colors. You can find Sheri’s earrings and class information at Brookside Farms and Joy Farms.

Class size is limited to 16 participants (ADULTS ONLY). The cost is $35 and pre-registration is required (nonrefundable). The cost covers the instruction of class, your finished products, and refreshments.

In this presentation, you’ll discover many little-known facts from within our state’s boundaries, including things right here in Allegan County.

A few highlights include why Michigan’s Great Seal is dated 1835, two years before we gained statehood; why there is a Michigan state highway that cars aren’t allowed on; and how Japan bombed two Michigan locations during WWII.

Jay Follis is a very entertaining presenter and has done extensive historical research.

The Otsego Library loves children and wants to host a fun event just for them.
Kids of all ages are invited to drop in and enjoy a festive Valentine-themed celebration.

Throughout the event, children can create fun Valentine crafts, play cheerful holiday games, and enjoy a variety of special Valentine treats.

It’s a sweet and simple way to spend time together, get creative, and celebrate  the season of friendship and love at the library.

Join us in celebrating Otsego District Library during the month of February at these special events!

The Library will kick off this special month with something that the Otsego Patrons love – MUSIC!

Join Joe Laureano and a dueling piano performer for a high-energy,  interactive show that spans multiple decades and genres.
The audience drives the show by requesting songs, and the performers’ job is to “facilitate the fun” by playing those requests. The audience will also be able to enjoy a sweet & salty snack!

READING IS “SNOW” MUCH FUN – Early Literacy Fundraiser

READING IS SNOW MUCH FUN at Otsego District Library begins Monday! This is an ODL early literacy fundraiser event. Your donations support our children’s collection! For your donation this year, you’ll get a peppermint and you can glue a cotton ball onto our giant snowman ☃️
This year our winter early literacy fundraiser is like a mini children’s museum exhibit and includes the following:
  • Craft (changes each week – 4 weeks)
  • Fine Motor Activity (changes each week – 4 weeks)
  • Large motor activity (changes each week – 4 weeks)
  • A new scavenger hunt each week. Week one is the Star Wars hunt
  • Learning boards (Snowy Day/Ezra Jack Keats, Science of Snowflakes, and Arctic Animals – coming soon)
  • An igloo to play inside with Snowy Gobidex (magnetic) blocks
  • A wintry Early Literacy Center including an arctic puppet show
  • A photo booth option with three singing snowmen
  • A snowy seal cave
Be sure to come back each week for a new craft and activities and don’t forget to invite your friends to meet you at the library for our winter early literacy fundraiser!

Read & Dine: Adult Winter Reading Club

Sign up to be part of the Read & Dine Adult Winter Reading Program this winter! Read ten books and you can enter a drawing to possibly win a Kindle Fire or a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. Reading logs will be available at the circulation desk or at our drive-thru pickup window.

ALL Participants who finish reading 10 books will receive a cookbook (while supplies last). Thank you to the Friends of the Library (Kindle and cookbooks) and local restaurants for sponsoring this program!
