The Otsego District Library serves 14,230 residents with a budget of $518,000 and a staff of fifteen. In 2009, a beautiful new 18,000 square foot, LEED-Silver Level building opened for service to the community. A dedicated library millage voted in perpetuity provides 75% of the library’s operating revenue. The library has a staff known for its commitment to outstanding customer service and a supportive board that is responsive to the community. Otsego is located in beautiful southwest Michigan, fifteen miles north of Kalamazoo, thirty miles south of Grand Rapids, and only forty minutes from Lake Michigan. The Otsego area offers affordable living, excellent schools, convenient shopping, and an outstanding quality of life.

Lyrics on the Lawn – FREE Summer Concert Series
THURSDAYS IN AUGUST AT 7 PM
Visit the library FOUR Thursday evenings in August for an outdoor concert on the lawn. (No performance on Thursday, August 29.)
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and your family and friends to enjoy some great FREE entertainment. Popcorn provided by the Friends of the Library and bottled water for $1.

MAIN STREET DUELING PIANOS
August 1
Joe Laureano has been performing rock & roll professionally his entire adult life. He is well known all across the country and has an impressive repertoire of 1,000+ songs, spanning more than seven decades of music.
OTSEGO JAZZ ENSEMBLE
August 8
These local musicians: five saxes, four trombones, four trumpets, and a full rhythm section will perform music from the big band era. You don’t want to miss this performance of these top notch musicians.
OUT OF FAVOR BOYS
August 15
Out of Favor Boys is one of Southwest Michigan’s premier contemporary blues bands. They’ve been the house band at two of Kalamazoo’s longest-lasting Thursday Blues Jams at Wonderful’s Funky Basement and The 411 Club. The band has had the opportunity to play with some national blues musicians like Tab Benoit, Watermelon Slim and Robert Bradley.
GREAT SCOTT
August 22
If you enjoy the Main Street Dueling Pianos, come back for Joe Laureano’s full cover band, “Great Scott.” Great Scott performs the greatest songs from the 1950’s to the new hits of today. Joe will come with a five piece band. This band is guaranteed to have you laughing, toe-tapping, and dancing along!
The Scholastic Book Fair results are in! Patrons purchased a total of $3,923.66 worth of books from the book fair.
Your purchases resulted in the library earning $1,850.79 in FREE Scholastic Dollars!!
Thank you to everyone who made purchases this year at the book fair – the FREE Scholastic Dollars earned will go towards purchasing new books in the children and juvenile sections!

Adventure Begins At Your Library – Summer Reading Program 2024
SATURDAY, JUNE 15 – SATUDAY JULY 27
Come sign up at the library anytime during the week of June 10-15 and you will get a prize! We will have a sign-up table in the library. Sign-ups will continue through July 6. Once you reach your reading goal, bring in your finisher slips to pick up a bag filled with prizes and coupons; plus pick out your very own book! Then you can enter to win one of our adventurous grand prizes! Finisher bags will be available for pick up beginning July 8.

Spring Book Sale Results!
The results are in at the library! The amazing volunteers from the Friends of the Library were able to raise $930 at the Spring Book Sale!
All of the proceeds from the large books sales (spring and fall) and Twice Told Tales: Friends of the Library Book Store come back to the library and assist in various aspects of the library including programming, events, summer reading, and more.
A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all of the Friends of the Library Volunteers for helping make this book sale so successful. Another big thank you goes out to the Otsego High School Student Volunteers. The library would also like to thank our community and its visitors for donating books for purchase at these sales. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

BIG Spring Book Sale
The Friends of the Library are hosting a TWO DAY BIG Spring Book Sale!
Who loves a book bargain?! We sure do! Books will be on sale at discounted rates. Shelves inside the bookstore will be restocked with new titles after each sale.

Adult Winter Read and Dine Reading Club
Sign up to be part of Read & Dine Adult Winter Reading Program this winter at Otsego District Library! Read ten books and you can enter a drawing to win a Kindle Fire or a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. Reading logs will be available at the circulation desk and the drive up window. ALL participants who finish reading 10 books will receive a free cookbook of their choice (while supplies last.) Thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring our cookbooks and Kindle this year and thank you to the local restaurants that supported this program with gift cards!
