Thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring a portion of our concerts this year! FREE popcorn will be served and cold bottled water will be available for $1. We are excited to offer an extended season of six fantastic concerts this summer to celebrate the summer reading program theme, LIBRARIES ROCK!

Main Street Dueling Pianos

Joe Laureano has been performing rock & roll professionally his entire adult life. He is well known all across the country and has an impressive repertoire of 1,000+ songs, spanning more than seven decades of music.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Join us Tuesday, September 4  from Noon – 5:45 PM to donate.

The American Red Cross will be taking the lead at this blood drive by accepting donors in the Lura Sanford Room.

Scholastic Book Fair

Image result for scholastic book fair 2018Back by popular demand, the Scholastic Book Fair returns June 6 – 28 during all library open hours.

Let your children and grandchildren pick out some fun reading materials for summer to celebrate their accomplishments in school this past year! Books also make great birthday gifts.

Thanks to all of the wonderful community support, the Scholastic Book Fair raised $1600 in free books for the library last summer!

The library earns 50% of the profits to use toward free books.

Read Down Your Fines

LIBRARIES ROCK!
We want to see you again at the library!

If your fines are holding you back, come in and “read down your fines” this summer! Check in at the desk both as you come and go to tell the circulation staff you would like to participate in Read Down Your Fines. The staff will waive $1 of fines for every 15 minutes you read. Patrons of all ages can participate. You must read in the library… find a cool spot and read away your fines!

This offer does not apply to lost materials or collection fees and cannot be used to build up a credit against future fines. Up to a maximum of $15 will be waived per library card.

This is a special event in conjunction with LIBRARIES ROCK and is only being offered June 16 – July 28.

Jewelry Wrapping with Mary Shepich
Saturday, August 18 at 10 AM (If needed, second class will be at 12:30 PM)

Interested in learning how to wire wrap stones or sea glass? Mary from Sea Picks will help us celebrate summer by teaching us how to wrap beach glass to make a beautiful necklace. You can see Mary’s jewelry at Marketplace at Mezzo. Cost is $20 and payment is required when registering. Class includes your unique jewelry creation, snacks, and coffee from Mezzo.

Grab your friends and head over to the library for a Movie Day! FREE Popcorn and refreshments provided.

 

Monogram Initial
Wednesday, April 4 at 4 PM
Customize and design your initial. Showcase an attractive ombré design using yarn and fierce decor.

 

Sidewalk Chalk Art
Friday, April 6 at 4 PM
Pick a square of the library sidewalk to design an awesome piece of art. We will vote on most creative and unique designs. Zentangle Pencil Art will be the backup program in case of inclement weather.

Jumanji

Be on the lookout for things to get WILD at the library the end of December! An interactive game of Jumanji will come to life in the large program room.

Opens Tuesday, December 26 and will run through Thursday, January 18.

There will be a special surprise program at the end of the month when real LIVE wild animals come to visit on Saturday, January 20!

The Otsego District Library serves 14,230 residents with a budget of $518,000 and a staff of eighteen. In 2009, a beautiful new 18,000 square foot, LEED-Silver Level building opened for service to the community. A dedicated library millage voted in perpetuity provides 75% of the library’s operating revenue. The library has a staff known for its commitment to outstanding customer service and a supportive board that is responsive to the community. Otsego is located in beautiful southwest Michigan, fifteen miles north of Kalamazoo, thirty miles south of Grand Rapids, and only forty minutes from Lake Michigan. The Otsego area offers affordable living, excellent schools, convenient shopping, and an outstanding quality of life.
