The library is excited for you to IMAGINE YOUR STORY along with us this summer.

This is an easy program to record your child’s reading progress and set personal goals. The minimum goal for children is to read 20 days, but we encourage you to set the amount of days that seems right for your story.

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THE CHILDREN’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM – Registration begins Monday, June 22.

Library programs in the building will not be allowed this summer, but we are busy imagining what virtual programs we can offer.

We hope you and your children can “IMAGINE YOUR STORY” this summer along with the library.

All participants who reach their reading goal will receive an awesome finisher bag filled with a book plus activities they can do at home and in their own backyards.

June 19, 2020 | See all Announcements

We are so excited to be offering a Drive-Thru Pickup Window to our patrons!

The window is located directly after our materials return slots. Please, return materials before the pick-up window.

Log into your library account and place your reserves at otsegolibrary.org and pick them up after you have been emailed that they are available. All you need is your library card number. Give us a call at (269)694-9690 if you are having trouble logging into your account. NO REQUESTS AT THE DRIVE UP WINDOW.

Please remember that the drive-thru has one way access. Do not pass other vehicles. For your safety we are not allowing walk-up or bicycle access – please remain in your vehicle.

Open window hours will be: Mon-Fri 10-6, Sat 10-3.

Because we do not know the volume of cars to expect at first, we request that you enter on Platt Street and pull up to the library’s marked drive thru pickup window (just beyond the drive thru book drop). Please do not block Dix Street waiting in line. Use the Platt Street entrance instead.

Library staff will be at the curbside window. There is a two-way intercom. Staff will request your library card number, please have this handy to read to them. They will not be collecting your physical card. If you do not have a library card, they will ask an identifying verification question to confirm your identity. Staff will checkout your holds to you, and deliver them through the window. Your items will be slid out the window to you in a bag inside a tub.

Items requested will be held for 7 days before being returned to the shelves. Fines may not be paid at the window. Please utilize the book drop for book returns. Staff will NOT take returned items at the window. Please call the library with any issues with your library card do not address library issues at the curbside window. The drive thru pickup is for drive thru pickup of holds ONLY. ABSOLUTELY NO WALK-UP or BICYCLE CHECKOUTS at the window, FOR YOUR SAFETY THE DRIVE-UP WINDOW IS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES ONLY and all patrons must remain inside of their vehicle.

Staff will only bring items to the window that are already on hold via the methods described above. Please do not pull up the window and then request your items.

Otsego District Library is Temporarily Closed – All Programs Cancelled Until Further Notice

March 13, 2020 | See all Announcements

ODL Coronavirus Disease 2019 Update (COVID-19)

The Otsego District Library truly cares about our community, our patrons, and our staff.

Many of our patrons fall into the at-risk category for Coronavirus. We urge you to stay home and not visit the library if you feel sick or have any of the symptoms of Coronavirus or if you are an at-risk individual.

In light of the recommendations of Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to slow the spread, we are closely monitoring the situation and taking the preventative measures recommended, including:

  • The Otsego District Library is Temporarily Closed until further notice
  • Per recommendations to limit large group gatherings, all library programs are cancelled until further notice.
  • We request that staff and patrons who are feeling sick stay home.
  • The community puzzle has been put away temporarily, as well as toys that are hard to sanitize in the children’s area.
  • There is a hand sanitizer station available at the entry to the library.
  • There are disinfectant wipes available to wipe down computer workstations.
  • The library will remain open during regular hours. We hope to continue to provide you with the WiFi and access to information that you need to continue your daily school and business work.
  • The library will not be disinfecting library materials (books and movies), as the CDC has declared this as ineffective. However, library staff will work diligently to clean surfaces and touch points in the library.
  • We urge patrons to check out some of the library’s digital services: Rocket Languages and Libby!

Helpful Coronavirus information can be found at:

https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. You are truly an awesome community and we will do our best to continue to serve you in the safest way possible!

Andrea Estelle
Otsego District Library Director

NOTE: There will be no library fines accrued during the closure, late fees will be waived. If you feel like you would prefer to stay home you do not need to return materials during this time period. Fines from before this time period and lost/damaged items are not included. Please see the previous posting about an update from the library regarding Coronavirus.

Click HERE to read the recommendation from Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

For those who are limiting their exposure by staying home but still wish to use library services, remember that ODLP offers a large variety of digital materials through Overdrive/Libby, Rocket Languages, and so many more. Click HERE for more information on digital downloads.
