Joe Grimm, author of The Faygo Book, tells the story of a pop, a people, and a place. The stories will tickle the taste buds and memories of Faygo lovers everywhere.
The book tells how a family forged a bond of more than 100 years with a city and its residents and became the last company standing in Detroit’s “pop alley.”
The Faygo Book is a Michigan Notable Book for 2019. There will be a Pop Quiz and Faygo Floats!!!

Are you curious about the rocks you have found in your backyard? Learn to identify what they are and where they’re from. Samples of Michigan rocks will be brought in to help you identify them. Feel free to bring in a rock or two to be identified. Check out their website at kalamazoorockclub.org.
The Friends of the Library are putting together another AMAZING Book Sale for the public to enjoy. All of the money raised at the Book Sale comes back to the library. These funds are used to encourage reading in the early literacy category. The Friends of the Library are also a huge source in funding the Summer Reading Program.

Get up close and wild with Michigan wildlife. LIVE animals including reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals will be used during the presentation. People will learn unique characteristics of animals and how they fit into our diverse ecosystems. Hands-on artifacts include skins, skulls, wings, feathers, and talons of several species native to Michigan

Create a Michigan painting on canvas by using acrylics with step-by-step instruction from our library director.
This FREE class is limited to elementary age students and registration is required. Space is limited to 30 participants.

Ever wonder how two regular guys ended up with a popular PBS TV show and book that feature the cool people, places and things that make Michigan a great place to be? Join Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman for an inspirational story of reinvention and discovery. They’ll tell you how they do it, why they do it, and share great stories from their travels around Michigan. Be sure to bring your questions, your sense of adventure, and your sense of humor because when Tom and Jim start talking, it’s a wild and crazy ride.
If you haven’t seen Under the Radar Michigan, look for it on your local PBS station or go to utrmichigan.com and peruse before the performance. You’ll be glad you did!

The goblins are haunting and the monsters will mash. It’s time to get ready for our Halloween Bash! Gather your friends for this haunting evening of fun, games, prizes, PIZZA, and so much more!
Play hide and seek in the dark (after hours) and take part in the costume contest.
Paper Bead Holiday Earrings with Barbara Stewart of Stoney Creek Arts

Learn the art of paper rolling to make paper beads, which will be used to create beautiful holiday earrings (for pierced or non-pierced ears). Extra beads that are made may be used to make a bracelet. These can be used as holiday gifts or for yourself!
Class size is limited to 25 participants (ADULTS ONLY).
The cost is $20 and pre-registration is required (nonrefundable). Cost covers the instruction of the class, your finished products, and refreshments including coffee from Mezzo Coffee House.
