An American Red Cross Girl’s War in Vietnam Presented by Joann Puffer Kotcher
Thursday, October 4 at 7 PM
Joann Puffer Kotcher, one of the first women allowed in a combat zone, will discuss the riveting story of her service as an American Red Cross Donut Dolly. These brave young women set up recreation centers and brought books, snacks and a welcome reminder of home to soldiers in the field.
Kotcher and other Donut Dollies, while participating in highly dangerous missions, were assigned to combat support duty and often found themselves in fox holes nose to nose with the enemy. She spent a year in Vietnam during the height of the war and was awarded the Civilian Service Citation for merit and bravery upon her return.
Donuts will be provided for attendees by Sweetwater’s Donut Mill in Plainwell.
