Woolbur with Author Leslie Helakoski

Saturday, March 12 from 10 AM – Noon

Leslie Helakoski, award-winning children’s author and illustrator, says her books are for laughing, living and learning. If you’ve read any of her books including Big Chickens and her newest title, Are Your Stars Like My Stars?, then you will have to agree. For this program we will focus on Woolbur, the fun-filled story of a sheep that bleats to his own beat. We will begin our morning with a presentation by Leslie and then be able to meet a live Woolbur, make a wooly craft, and have a snack that’s not baaaaaa…d.

Creative Café – Fused Glass

Fused Glass with Kathy Kuipers

Friday, March 18 from 1-3 PM
Saturday, March 19 from 10 AM – 12 PM

Another class will open Saturday afternoon if these fill. These classes are for adults only, but there will be a Friday afternoon session from 4 – 6 PM for 6th – 12th graders with or without parents.

Create a spring-inspired fused glass art project. Participants will be able to choose from a variety of styles to make. The cost is $20 and preregistration is required (non-refundable). Cost of the class covers the instruction, your finished art project, and refreshments.

Questions about Emmett Till? Here are the answers.Thursday, November 18 at 7 PM

The story of Emmett Till was silenced for over 50 years after his brutal murder on August 28, 1955.

Since 2005, new information has been discovered about what really took place after Emmett made the famous whistle to Caroline Bryant after purchasing candy at Bryant’s Grocery in Money, Mississippi.

Presenter Jim Herm will share his research into the post Civil War South, the legacy of Emmett Till, and the start of the Civil Rights movement. Jim Herm is a resident of Otsego and a retired Portage Public School history teacher. He has visited many of the recently opened historical sites that will be discussed in his presentation

Overstock Book Sale

Overstock Sales – October 4, November 1, and December 6

Who doesn’t like book bargains?!

The Friends of the Library are holding an Overstock Book Sale on the first Monday of each month during library hours. Books will be on sale for 3/$1 in front of the bookstore. (We might even have some special deals that day!) Grab your book bags and stock up for birthdays, holidays, and your own bookshelf!

Shelves inside the bookstore will be restocked with new titles after each sale.

Allegan Brass Collective – Concert

The Allegan Brass Collective is a traditional brass quintet that loves to play both classical and non-traditional music.

The musicians live and work in Allegan County and strive to bring the community together through their love of music.

Scholastic Book Fair

Mark your calendars! The Scholastic Book Fair returns to the Otsego District Public Library! We are excited that the book fair will be returning this summer. It is a great way to reward your kids and grandkids for powering through this difficult school year. Your purchases will help us buy more titles for our children’s collection!

We also currently have MANY used children’s titles for sale in our Twice Told Tales Friends Used Bookstore for 25 cents! Come check them out any time the library is open. Your purchases help support our Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program!
