Allegan Brass Collective

The Allegan Brass Collective formed in 2017 as a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon playing music. Since then, they have performed in the local area at festivals, churches, weddings, and schools.

This will be the Collective’s third time playing at the Otsego District Library, and they have a fun evening of oldies prepared for you. Join us for this family friendly concert with the Allegan Brass Collective.

Abraham Lincoln A New Birth of Freedom

President Abraham Lincoln, in period dress, talks about his own life and the history of the USA from Independence through the Civil War, with a special emphasis on 12 turbulent years from 1854 to 1865 which nearly destroyed our young nation but instead eventually resulted in a “new birth of freedom”.

President Lincoln is portrayed by Kevin Wood, a professional Lincoln portrayer, who bears a remarkable resemblance to The Great Emancipator and who is extremely knowledgeable about his life and times. For more info about the presenter and the program, visit mrlincoln.com.

Gerald R.Ford Presidential Museum Circulating Pass

This circulating membership allows adult resident library members to use their library card to check out a free day pass to Grand Rapids Children’s Museum (GRCM).

  • The circulating membership allows adult resident library members to use their library card to check out a free admission pass to Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum.
  • The pass entitles up to 6 guests (adults or children) to visit the museum one time free of charge, once per month.
  • Library patron must present circulating pass to the front desk of the museum.
  • A patron may only check out the circulating admission pass one time per year.
  • Patron is responsible to check the museum hours as they change regularly.
  • Patrons must abide by all the policies and procedures of the museum.
  • ODPL patrons must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of Otsego District Public Library (nonresident reciprocal patrons excluded) to borrow a membership. They must present a current Otsego District Public Library card OR a photo ID. A patron has 3 days to pickup a reserve circulating membership.
  • The pass must be returned directly to the ODPL staff at the circulation desk during regular library hours.
  • If the pass is damaged or lost while in patron’s possession which requires a replacement circulating pass, $10.00 will be added to the patron’s account.
  • If a patron has a circulating membership checked out, they cannot checkout another circulating membership.

Adult Winter Reading Program
January – March 31

Sign up to be part of Read & Dine Adult Winter Reading Program this winter! Read ten books and you can enter a drawing to win a Kindle Fire or a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. Reading logs will be available at the circulation desk or at our drive-thru pickup window.

All participants who finish reading 10 books will receive a cookbook (while supplies last).

Grand Rapids Children’s Museum Circulating Pass

This circulating membership allows adult resident library members to use their library card to check out a free day pass to Grand Rapids Children’s Museum (GRCM).

  • The pass entitles up to 6 guests (adults or children) to visit the museum one time free of charge.
  • Library patron must present photo ID and circulating pass to the front desk at GRCM.
  • A patron may only check out the GRCM circulating pass one time per year.
  • The pass is not valid at GRCM special events.
  • Patrons must abide by all GRCM policies and procedures.
  • ODPL patrons must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of Otsego District Public Library (nonresident reciprocal partons excluded) to borrow a membership.
  • They must present a current Otsego District Public Library library card OR a photo ID.
  • The pass must be returned directly to the ODPL staff at the circulation desk during regular library hours.
  • If the pass is not returned after 7 days, a late fee of $25.00 will be added to the patron’s account.
  • If the pass is damaged or lost while in patron’s possession which requires a replacement circulating pass, $25.00 will be added to the patron’s account.
  • If a patron has a circulating membership checked out, they cannot checkout another circulating membership.

You’ve got a Golden Ticket for fun this winter at your library! Sponsored by generous donations from local businesses, the library’s large program room will be transformed into a life-size Wonka factory.

Tour the factory with your family and play a game based on the beloved books by Roald Dahl. The library collects a free-will donation during this event which will go towards new children’s materials. You don’t want to miss out on this SWEET event!

Now Accepting Snow Plow Bids

The Otsego District Library is now accepting bids for plowing the entire library parking lot. Plowing is requested for when there are 3 inches of snow or more.

When needed, plowing must be done before library opens (9 AM Mon-Sat).

Tiny Art Gallery & Tiny Art Gallery Junior

Let’s get creative!

Pick-up a tiny canvas from the library at the beginning of September to participate in the Tiny Art Gallery. Participants will take a canvas home and create a work of art to be displayed in the library. Use any medium: paint, colored pencil, oil pastel, multimedia, etc. There will be SIX age groups (preschool, kindergarten – 2nd grade, 3rd grade – 5th grade, middle school, high school, and adult) and two categories (best in show and most creative).

Canvases can be picked up September 1 – October 31.
Return your completed canvas any time throughout the month of October.
Art will be on display through November and library patrons will vote on their favorite art pieces.
Submissions can be picked up beginning December 1.

Rules and Guidelines:

  • Registration and entry is free.
  • One entry per participant.
  • No displays of violent or inappropriate behavior will be displayed.
  • You may only submit your own artwork.
  • The Library Patron Code of Conduct and the Exhibits/Display Case policies must be followed.
  • All items placed in the library are done so at the exhibitor’s sole risk and are not insured by the library.
  • By entering the competition you agree to abide by the rules and guidelines listed above.
