If you have applied in the past at Otsego District Library and are still interested in working for the library, please reapply by updating and resending your application packet! Each round of applications, we only consider the submitted applications.
Although this position is posted with limited hours, extra hours are available if you are flexible and willing to pick up shifts to cover for vacations.

The Otsego District Library serves 14,230 residents with a budget of $518,000 and a staff of fifteen. In 2009, a beautiful new 18,000 square foot, LEED-Silver Level building opened for service to the community. A dedicated library millage voted in perpetuity provides 75% of the library’s operating revenue. The library has a staff known for its commitment to outstanding customer service and a supportive board that is responsive to the community. Otsego is located in beautiful southwest Michigan, fifteen miles north of Kalamazoo, thirty miles south of Grand Rapids, and only forty minutes from Lake Michigan. The Otsego area offers affordable living, excellent schools, convenient shopping, and an outstanding quality of life.

Thank you and congratulations to everyone that participated this year in the Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program – it has been another amazing and record breaking year with over 1100 children and teens registered! Children and Teens who participated and reached their reading goal can still pick up a finisher prize bag plus a free book at the library.

The Scholastic Book Fair results are in! Patrons purchased a total of $4,205.92 worth of books from the book fair.
Your purchases resulted in the library earning $2,000.89 in FREE Scholastic Dollars!!
Thank you to everyone who made purchases this year at the book fair – the FREE Scholastic Dollars earned will go towards purchasing new books in the children and juvenile sections!

We’ve had some amazing new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Kits added to the collection recently. These kits are filled with books, games, activities, and so much more! Read, play, and learn with these amazing resources at your library. Kits get checked out for 3 weeks at a time and one kit is allowed per account. STEAM Kits require parental supervision and are not for children under 3 due to choking hazards in some of the game pieces.
These STEAM kits were made possible by a generous grants given to the library from the Eaton Corporation and the Allegan County Community Foundation.

We had an amazing time looking for Waldo and his dog Woof at the library. Participation to play was based on a freewill donation from library patrons.
Our wonderful community was able to raise $1685 for our Stock the Shelves fund. We also had some amazing sponsors that brought the grand total of donations raised to $2170!
Your donations to play will go to our Stock The Shelves campaign to buy new children’s materials for our new children’s shelving which were recently donated by the Pauline DeGood family!
