SUMMARY:Author's Journey Series - A Hopeful Life by Laura MacGregor
DESCRIPTION:Author’s Journey Series\nJoin us for a series of different authors and their journeys in health\, family relations\, and care giving. \nA Hopeful Life by Lara MacGregor\nPresented by Art Plewka\nThursday\, September 28 at 6:30 PM\nCelebrate the life of Lara MacGregor and the publication of her book A Hopeful Life\, with her father Art Plewka. Hear the journey of Lara’s story\, her mission through Hope Scarves\, and the importance of her book. Art will also share his own “hopeful life” story\, describing a hiking trip in Lara’s memory. \nUp & Coming Events in this Series\nChasing North Star\nPresented by author Heidi McCrary\nThursday\, October 19 at 6:30 PM\nAn Otsego graduate\, author Heidi McCrary’s debut novel\, Chasing North Star borrows heavily from her time growing up in Alamo\, just a short drive from Otsego. Described as dark humor\, the story tells the tale of a band of siblings growing up with a mentally unstable mother who can’t help herself\, and their journey to finding forgiveness. This bittersweet coming-of-age story features many locations and events that local readers will find especially entertaining. Learn more about Heidi at www. heidimccrary.net and www.facebook.com/HeidiMcCraryAuthor. Signed copies of “Chasing North Star” will be available for purchase after the presentation. \nDad\, A Diary of Daring and Questioning\nPresented by author Robert Weir\nThursday\, November 16 at 6:30 PM\n“My dad and mom took care of me when I was young. When my dad became old and needed me\, I simply returned the favor.” This sentiment was the philosophical mantra of Robert’s story of his remarkable five-year journey into the realm of parental care. Robert says. “Caring for him was a challenge\, but we talked in ways we never had before\, and the rewards of being together were tremendous.” In his presentation\, Robert will talk about those rewards. He will have signed copies of his books for sale.
